Nokia 7280 Phones
The Nokia 7280 is a part of the “Nokia’s Fashion Phone” trilogy, along with Nokia 7260 and Nokia 7270. It is the last part of the trilogy and also the most extreme. It comes under the category of 3G, Tri-band sliding phones. It has a breathtaking exterior in black lacquer, red and chrome. The chrome finish gives it a stunning mirror like surface.
Often compared to the Art Deco Lipstick, the phone is sleek and lightweight at 84g. It is the Mobile Phone to be carried to up one’s image. Its dimensions are: 115 x 32 x 19 mm. However the phone’s display is rather small and displays 65K colors and has a resolution of 104x208 pixels. The phone is “unique” personified. It is the sliding type and the Nokia phone does not feature a keypad, and only contains select, send end and 2 soft keys. Calls are answered by a mere opening and closing of the phone slide.
The Mobile Phone is operated by employing the voice- activated user service i.e. voice dialing and simple voice commands. However this is possible only for pre- configured numbers and this can go wrong if one is a crowded and noisy place. To navigate through the menu, one needs to use the rotating pad, just like in the iPod. Text messaging is a real pain in the Nokia 7280 due to the absence of a normal key pad. To message, one must scroll the list of characters and select the desired one for every word. The phone features a VGA camera with 640x480 resolution, with no flash. Hence night time pictures will appear like blurs. The camera can be used only to click pictures and cannot be used to record videos. It includes all standard features like the alarm clock, calculator, stop watch etc.
The user is offered connectivity through Bluetooth and Infrared. With the help of the XHTML web browser one can download tones, themes, screen savers and wall papers. These can be stored in the phone which has an internal memory of 50 Mbytes. The Nokia 7280 battery lasts up to 3 hours on talk time mode and 240 hours on standby. If ripped of its exterior, the Nokia 7280 phone is quite an ordinary one, being sold at higher price.
