Nokia’s first attempt with slide phone is Nokia 6111. It comes in three colors – black, pink and silver. These phones have an individuality of their own and there is no lack of technology features which make the phone unique.
Video and Camera
Nokia 6111 comes with a 262kTFT color screen. There is a mega pixel camera, camera flash light, digital zoom and camera mode in landscape all integrated into the phone. The camera allows users to take pictures in both landscape and portrait modes. The camera can also be used as video recorder which covers movies of more than one hour live footage. The phone has 23 Mbytes of memory which helps the user to save many photos and video recordings.
Audio
Nokia 6111 has an inbuilt media player, FM Stereo radio and MP3 and AAc ringing tones. All these features help the user to listen to favorite music tracks. The FM facility has visual radio feature through which the user can see their radio station.
Messaging
The Mobile Phone has multimedia messaging, instant messaging, text messaging and Xpress audio messaging facilities. The Xpress audio has special features that allow the user to record their voice message and send it to any other compatible mobile or device. The multimedia messaging on the other hand helps to send messages which have audio, video, text and images in it. This can be used to send slide show presentations which may tell stories.
Games
The Mobile Phone has many games like Golf Tour, Backgammon, Solitaire, and Champ Rally. The user can download other games for free.
Useful features
There is weekly calendar, conference call facility which is helped through hands free speakers and contact to up to five members are possible at a time. Voice dialing, sixteen voice commands and vibrating alert are the other useful feature of the phone. The other special feature is the push to talk which allows the user to speak to more than one at a time. There is caller identification feature available where the user can assign images to their contact in the phone book which helps in easy identification.
Technology
The technologies used inside the phone are Bluetooth technology, Pop-Port, Infra red and USB. There is also XHTML and EDGE technology which helps the user to browse the internet at considerable speed. The phone is of the size 84 x 47 x 23 mm, weighs 92 grams, has talk time of 3 hours and a battery standby of 7 to 10 days. With all these features and advanced technology to support Nokia 6111 has not won the hearts to its users. The slide technology has simply not attracted the users due to the inadequacies like small memory and average camera. So 6111 has not lived up to the expectations of being the best of Nokia. Consumer reviews reveal that the phone has been broken within weeks or even days of purchase. Poor consumer feedback on the phone makes it even more unpopular. Therefore Nokia 6111 is overtaken by Nokia 5300 and Samsung E370 due to its inadequacies.
