Nokia 5500 Phones
The Nokia 5500 was introduced as an alternative to the bomb proof 5140i, which was completely surrounded by a rubber casing and could be thrown just about anywhere without any fear of it breaking. This phone however has much better features and was released a sports edition aimed at active users. The phone gained popularity as it consisted of almost all features accompanied by low pricing. Also, it employs the same operating system as the N series. The Nokia phone has a body made from stainless steel which helps the phone to withstand falls, dust, dirt, hard edged surfaces and water. The dimensions of the phone are as follows: 107 x 45 x 18 mm and weighs 103.
The Nokia 5500 phone can be used under three distinct modes- sport, music and phone. The screen is tap sensitive which means that the phone carries a particular function specific to a mode, when tapped. For Example when the user receives a message and he taps the screen twice then the phone will read out the message to you! This feature is available on the sports mode to enable sports persons to move around without having to look down at the Nokia phone. Then ‘swap’ key allows the user to switch between modes instantly.
The phone also features a pedometer in the sports mode that counts then number of steps taken by the user and also displays the speed and distance of the current excursion undertaken by the Mobile Phone user. The music mode enables the user to access the walkman. The phone’s memory can be expanded and one can download songs and multimedia files in the following formats: multimedia, including 3gp and .mp4 video, Real Media (Real Video and Real Audio), MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA.
When in the phone mode, one can use the phone’s 2 mega pixel camera to capture photos and record videos. This Mobile Phone battery has a life of about 2-4 hours and 240 hours on standby. Though the phone is very user friendly it’s by no means a simple phone. The Nokia 5500 is an all rounder that lives up to its hype.
