One common mistake that many tend to point out in Nokia is that they just come up with slightly different versions from the existing models, name them a different number and launch into the market. This time around, it isn’t the case for sure. Nokia 3610 fold is definitely more than a ‘mere number change’.
As the name indicates, this one is a clamshell or a mobile that can be folded. This may be a nuisance to some who don’t quite like to flip it each time, but some may love to flaunt their flipping skills with 3610. The design of the all new Nokia 3610 is worthy of all the praises. This may very well compel any existing mobile model in its segment to shy away. An understated elegance seems to be carried off by the Mobile Phone marvelously. It’s sleek and the more ‘sleek’ folding design counts for one more feathers in its cap. Again, the never ending debate of ‘folding phones making the phone a bit bulkier’ ‘is it really necessary’ etc may haunt the mobile forever. It’s better to have an individualistic viewpoint in such matters. So, have your take!
Nokia 3610 is compact and is accessorized with everything one needs to stay connected always. The handset’s a quadband. The GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900; together accounts for the quadband referred to earlier on. One of the commendable aspects in the design should be the ample spacing provided for the keypad. The spacious keypad facilitates a seamless message typing and user interactive experience. Full points for the usability of the phone- in fact its one of the very user friendly Mobile Phones seen in recent times.
The camera is housed in the front flap. It’s a 1.3 mega pixel camera. This may sound slightly insufficient for some and it is indeed. One would have loved it more had it sported a camera of at least 2 mega pixels (that seems to be the standard being demanded by many users). However, this drawback (or the assumed drawback rather) is elegantly covered by the 6X digital zoom capability. The camera is easy to use and the captured images can be shared easily too, with the help of the services provided.
The front flap is capable of indicating incoming calls and messages and displays the analog clock when not in use. When the flap is opened what’s in store for you is a 2’ inch screen. The entire body if the mobile forms a shining curve. The display is neat and to be technically precise- the display is in 262K colors. So, there isn’t any need to sacrifice the colors or images of any of the messages or web pages. Nokia 3610 also supports a micro SD card up to 4GB. This leaves enough room for the possibility of all the multimedia features to be included in it (that too in bulk!).
Overall, Nokia 3610 fold can be rated’ good’ on functionality and perhaps ‘excellent’ in design. An average camera, an excellent design, some multimedia features possibility- all this for 125 Euros, quite a deal!
