The graphical TFT display with 65K colours and 128 x 160 pixels resolution can be supported with downloaded wallpapers, themes and screensavers. The ringtones can be polyphonic, MP3 or in 24 voices. GPRS networking is activated in the Mobile Phone and has an EDGE modem. A default email client is also set up with an option of instant messaging.

It has a Nokia Xpress Audio system and an inbuilt camera of VGA, 640x480 pixels which can capture both still and video images. Nokia 1680 classic also has a Chinese- English dictionary along with SMS and MMS support, and voice recording. A handsfree comes free along with the set.
